When a group of 10 family members and friends set out on a 10-day journey through Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, the trip became much more than a sightseeing holiday. It was a journey through changing landscapes, from the tea plantations and wildlife of Assam to the monasteries, lakes and snow-covered mountain passes of Arunachal Pradesh.
The adventure began in Guwahati, where the group was picked up and driven towards Kaziranga. The scenic route offered glimpses of Assam's tea plantations before the landscape gradually became greener and more tranquil. After reaching Kaziranga, the group checked into their resort and spent the evening taking in the peaceful surroundings.
An Exciting Encounter With Kaziranga's Wilderness

The next morning brought one of the most exciting experiences of the trip, and there was a jeep safari through Kaziranga National Park. Surrounded by the park's natural wilderness, the group set out in search of its famous one-horned rhinoceroses and other wildlife.
After the safari, they returned to their resort before continuing their journey towards Bhalukpong, the gateway to Arunachal Pradesh. The change in scenery marked the beginning of a completely different chapter of the trip, as Assam's plains gradually gave way to the hills.
Entering Arunachal Pradesh Through Bhalukpong & Dirang
From Bhalukpong, the group continued towards Dirang, with the journey itself becoming part of the experience. A stop at the Tipi Orchid Research Centre introduced them to the region's rich variety of orchids, followed by a visit to the Nag Temple.
Once in Dirang, the group explored local apple and kiwi farms before visiting Dirang Monastery and Kalachakra Gompa. With mountain views, local farms and Buddhist monasteries coming together, Dirang offered a slower and more immersive glimpse into the culture and landscapes of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Scenic Road to Tawang
The journey from Dirang to Tawang became one of the most memorable stretches of the adventure. The group travelled through the dramatic landscapes around Sela Pass and Sela Lake, with the mountains creating a spectacular backdrop throughout the drive.
The route also included stops at Jaswant Garh War Memorial and Nuranang Falls before the group finally reached Tawang. After checking into their hotel, they had some time to explore the local market and experience the atmosphere of this remote mountain town.
Discovering the Spiritual Side of Tawang

Tawang offered a different kind of experience. The group spent a day exploring its scenic and spiritual landmarks, including the beautiful Shonga-tser Lake, also known as Madhuri Lake, and Taktsang Gompa.
The highlight was a visit to Tawang Monastery, one of the region's most important Buddhist landmarks. The itinerary also offered an optional visit to Bumla Pass, while the evening was left open for exploring the local markets.
From Tawang's Monasteries to Bomdila's Quiet Charm
After Tawang, the journey continued towards Bomdila. Here, the group explored Gontse Rabgyaling Monastery, also known as Bomdila Monastery, along with Thub-Chog Gatsel Ling Monastery.
After several days of dramatic mountain drives and sightseeing, Bomdila brought a quieter rhythm to the journey. The monasteries, surrounding landscapes, and peaceful atmosphere provided another opportunity for the group to experience the cultural side of Arunachal Pradesh.
Returning to Guwahati With a Journey Full of Memories
The final part of the trip brought the group back to Guwahati. After the long drive from Bomdila, they had time to relax before spending their final full day exploring the city.
Their Guwahati sightseeing included Uma Nanda Temple, the zoo and the revered Kamakhya Temple on Nilachal Hill. It was a fitting cultural and spiritual conclusion to a journey that had taken them from Assam's wildlife-rich landscapes to the high mountains and monasteries of Arunachal Pradesh.
A Trip That Brought Family, Friends & Northeast India Together

By the time the group headed to the airport on the final morning, they had experienced an incredible variety of landscapes and experiences like wildlife safaris in Kaziranga, orchid gardens in Tipi, mountain roads through Sela Pass, the waterfalls and lakes around Tawang, ancient monasteries and the cultural highlights of Guwahati.
What made the journey especially memorable was experiencing all of it together. With 10 family members and friends travelling as one group, the trip combined adventure, nature, culture and plenty of shared moments along the way.
