The rain-washed air of the tropical monsoon hung heavy with the scent of frangipani as Harkiran Singh Kohli and his wife, Inderjeet Kaur, stepped out of the arrivals terminal. Planning a honeymoon during the greener months of the year can sometimes feel like a gamble. However, the couple wanted an escape that felt deeply immersive, quiet, and away from the standard crowds. They had taken the chance anyway, starting their eight-day journey in the cultural heart of Ubud. An initial airport transfer brought them straight to their first destination in a private vehicle, allowing them to watch the misty emerald hills roll past.

Their first morning in Ubud began with an essential cultural ritual. The couple spent an hour walking through the local craft markets, where they shopped for colourful scarves woven with traditional Balinese patterns. These vibrant garments were necessary attire for visiting the sacred Hindu sites across the region. Wrapped in their new scarves, the couple spent the afternoon exploring the ancient stone courtyards and moss-covered shrines of Ubud’s historic temples. The day ended at Veluvana Bali, a luxurious resort tucked away in nature, providing a secluded space for their first evening together on the island.

Swinging Over Rice Fields and Standing at the Gates of Heaven

Bali's beauty reflected in every moment

The next day brought the couple face-to-face with some of the iconic visual highlights of the island. Leaving their resort early to beat the midday mist, they headed toward the famous Tegalalang Rice Terraces for the Bali Swing experience. The monsoon rains had turned the surrounding valleys into a rich, vibrant green, making the entire landscape feel incredibly alive. The swing stood overlooking the deep river gorges of Ubud and the lush green rice fields. Fastened securely into the harness, Inderjeet took the first turn, soaring out over an ocean of giant palm trees and stepped rice terraces that dropped steeply below her feet. The experience was a thrilling rush of adrenaline that broke the quiet pace of their sightseeing, leaving them laughing together as the swing gently slowed down over the forest floor.

On the third day, they navigated the winding highland roads toward Pura Lempuyang, home to the famous Temple of Heaven. The monsoon clouds hung low over the mountain, shrouding the towering stone split-gates in a moving blanket of white mist. Standing between the grand structures, looking out toward the hidden peak of Mount Agung, Harkiran and Inderjeet felt an unusual burst of energy. The reflective surfaces below the gates created a perfect, mirrored illusion of the sky, making it look as though they were standing on the very edge of the clouds.

Conquering Muddy Trails and River Rapids

Bali days, ocean views, and unforgettable moments

The sixth morning of their honeymoon introduced a thrilling shift in pace as the couple traded quiet temple walks for pure adrenaline. In the morning, they set out for a 90-minute ATV and quad-biking experience. The muddy jungle trails, slick from the recent monsoon showers, tested their steering as they splashed through deep puddles, cruised past local farmlands, and navigated tight bamboo forest tracks. Riding through the rugged backroads gave them a completely raw perspective of Ubud’s wilderness, far removed from the typical tourist viewpoints. Later in the day, the adventure continued as they geared up for an exciting white water rafting session at the Ayung River, navigating through the thrilling rapids with a professional guide.

An exceptional aspect of this multi-day Bali tour was the remarkable dedication of the local transport team, particularly during the transitions on the road. They knew exactly when to arrive at popular spots to avoid the main tourist rushes and pointed out small, family-run cafes that served authentic local meals. One upside of travelling to Bali in the monsoon season was the smaller ratio of crowds, which made their time on the island all the more special and romantic.

Cliffside Dances and Candlelit Sands

Discovering the soul of Bali through its culture

The final leg of the tour brought them back to the coast for iconic evening visits to the seaside temples of Tanah Lot and Uluwatu. They tried some exciting water sports like jetskiing and speedboating in the morning, enjoying the open sea breezes before heading to the iconic cliffs of Uluwatu. There, they watched the traditional Kecak dance performance on an open stage as the sun sank below the ocean horizon. To close out their journey, they sat down for a private candlelit seafood dinner directly on the sands of Jimbaran Bay, listening to the tide roll in under the stars.

Upon returning from their tropical getaway, Harkiran shared their experience online:

"I had an amazing time for my planned itinerary... Everything was great!, I had an amazing time the guys guided me well. Not to forget, our driver in Bali and Nusa Penida were very very helpful, responsible and trustworthy... Thanks team thrillophilia."

Why Harkiran and Inderjeet Chose Thrillophilia

Planning a honeymoon across multiple regions like Ubud, Nusa Penida, and the southern coasts of Bali requires flawless coordination. Harkiran and Inderjeet needed a travel partner who could handle the intense logistics behind the scenes, ensuring a smooth, safe, and entirely private experience from start to finish.

They chose Thrillophilia because they knew of the brand's reputation for seamless itinerary curation and reliable on-ground support. From the initial planning stages, the team structured a balanced schedule that blended active adventures, like quad biking and white water rafting, with serene temple tours and resort stays. With local drivers ensuring safe navigation through tricky island roads and the support team maintaining constant contact online, the couple never had to worry about transport, timings, or entry passes. By eliminating the burden of logistics, Thrillophilia helped the newlyweds to focus fully on each other and build beautiful lifelong memories.
