For most travellers, the excitement of a Scandinavian holiday begins with the destinations. For D.C. Chaudhary and his wife, it began with a practical question: Would nine days across four countries be comfortable enough to enjoy?

With plans to cover at least 9 different destinations across a vast geographical width, the question was justified.

Keeping in mind D.C. Chaudhary and his wife’s age, this is the very first metric the team directed their attention to. With consistent briefing sessions and their itinerary taking shape, Dal Chand came to understand how the team planned to tackle the geographical issue, and that was what reassured him about the trip’s logistical validity.

Instead of packing every day with nonstop sightseeing, the route deliberately alternated between transfer-heavy days and immersive exploration days. Longer journeys were followed by slower-paced experiences, giving the couple enough time to settle into each destination rather than rushing through it.

By the time the couple landed in Copenhagen, all they were excited about was experiencing Scandinavia for the first time, exactly how they envisioned it.

First Glimpses of Scandinavia in Copenhagen

From their first step in Copenhagen, everything felt curated, from the airport transfers and hotel check-ins to the welcome briefing, allowing them to settle in without worrying about navigating an unfamiliar city.

The following morning introduced them to Copenhagen’s distinctive charm by covering Christiansborg Palace, the colourful waterfront of Nyhavn, and the iconic Little Mermaid, each reflecting Denmark's rich maritime and royal heritage before moving deeper into the Danish countryside.

As their day came to an end, Dal Chandan realised the technicality behind their itinerary. It was about ensuring each stop had its own pace and purpose, making even the travel between cities an enjoyable part of the Scandinavian experience, rather than blindly covering destinations.

A Journey Through Norway's Fjords to Bergen

The journey into Norway began with a ferry across the North Sea, making the transition between countries feel like an experience in itself. Passing through Kritiansand and the charming fjord town of Flekkefjord before reaching Stavanger, D.C. Chaudhary and his wife found themselves gradually introduced to Norway’s slower pace, dramatic coastline, and postcard-worthy landscapes.

The following day was devoted to one of Norway's greatest highlights. Travelling through tunnels, across bridges, and along scenic fjords, every stretch of the route offered a new perspective. The cable car ride to Mount Fløyen in Bergen became a standout moment, rewarding them with sweeping views of the city, surrounding fjords, and mountains.

While recounting his trip, it came back as a reminder to Chaudhary that in Norway, the journey is often just as memorable as the destination and how the team’s planning shone that fact through every day.

From Norway's Green Capital to Sweden's Lakes

Day five showcased Norway at its most spectacular. Cruising through the Sognefjord, passing the cascading Tvindefossen waterfall, and travelling through the scenic Aurland region, D.C. Chaudhary experienced landscapes that seemed untouched by time.

The next day blended city life with nature as Oslo introduced them to its elegant architecture, expansive parks, and relaxed atmosphere. Crossing into Sweden, they paused in the charming lakeside town of Örebro before arriving in Stockholm, where another distinctly Scandinavian capital awaited them.

Exploring Stockholm

Stockholm was what Dal Chand had looked forward to the most, so needless to say, for their full-day Stockholm sightseeing trip, he was up and ready before his wife. And that payed off.

After days of transfer-heavy travelling, although done with gradual assimilation. Stockholm felt like a warm hug with its gentler pace. In the cobbled streets of Gamla Stan, the Royal Palace, the Cathedral, and the Stortorget Square, the couple experienced a city where history coexisted with modern Scandinavian life, neither compromising the other.

Their day’s highlight came in the form of Fjällgatan viewpoint, which provided a sweeping panoramic view of Stockholm’s islands and waterways, while the unhurried afternoon gave them the freedom to explore museums, parks, or simply soak in the city’s atmosphere at their own pace.

The Scandinavian Chapter Closed Back in Copenhagen

The final full day of their trip was more symbolic than it was scenic. Travelling south from Stockholm, the couple paused in the lively coastal town of Helsingborg before crossing the Øresund by ferry into Denmark.

A visit to Helsingør, home to the iconic Kronborg Castle immortalised in Hamlet, added a touch of literary history before they returned to Copenhagen.

Ending the trip in the very place where it began felt like completing a circle, which took them through the nine days again, its remarkable landscapes, seamless travel, and a team who never left their side.

How Thrillophilia Managed the Trip Despite The Long Transfers

Despite his 5-star rating, D.C. Chaudhary just had one complaint in his Scandinavia review on Thrillophilia’s platform.

“Norway part was excellent. The only problem that we were traveling on an average 500 kms every day which was little too much for elderly people. However I will recommend this tour to everyone.”

The transfer distance is the only thing that cannot ever be compromised on a full-circuit Scandinavian tour, and Mr Chaudhary was briefed on it way before their departure. But despite the initial apprehension regarding travel fatigue, while on the ground, none of the days felt heavily physically draining due to the team’s alternately paced route mapping.

Even though covering those nine days successfully posed a risk of exhaustion, by the time Dal Chand boarded his flight back home with his wife, all they felt was a peaceful mind, their bodies tired but hearts full as they ended their trip review with a recommendation.
