Six days in Kashmir can cover a surprising amount of ground.

Between Srinagar, Sonmarg, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam, the itinerary moves through glacier viewpoints, mountain meadows, riverside valleys, bustling markets, and some of the most iconic experiences the region has to offer. For Parmita, however, the trip became memorable for more than just the destinations.

She joined a group tour expecting beautiful scenery. What she found was a journey filled with shared laughter, conversations during long drives, and fellow travellers who made every experience more enjoyable. Somewhere between the mountain roads, sightseeing stops, and evenings spent exchanging stories, the group itself became part of the reason the trip stood out.

And Kashmir provided the perfect backdrop for it all.

Sonmarg and Gulmarg Brought Kashmir's Grandest Landscapes to Life

Together, Parmita and her family created unforgettable memories in the heart of Kashmir

The first few days introduced Parmita to the scale and beauty that Kashmir is known for.

In Sonmarg, the road wound through dramatic mountain scenery before opening up to vast meadows framed by snow-covered peaks. A horse ride towards the Thajiwas Glacier viewpoint revealed a landscape of alpine meadows, streams, conifer forests, and distant frozen slopes. The scenery felt untouched, with every turn offering another view worth stopping for.

The following day brought a completely different experience in Gulmarg.

The highlight was the famous Gondola ride, one of the highest cable car experiences in the world. As the cabins climbed higher, the valley slowly unfolded below. Pine forests gave way to sweeping mountain views, while snow-covered ridges stretched across the horizon. At Apharwat Peak, the scenery felt almost unreal, with layers of mountains disappearing into the distance.

What made these experiences even better was experiencing them alongside a lively group of fellow travellers. There was always someone pointing out a view, taking photographs, or sharing the excitement of seeing Kashmir's landscapes from a completely new perspective.

Pahalgam Showed a Softer Side of the Valley

If Sonmarg and Gulmarg impressed through their scale, Pahalgam stood out for its charm.

The journey itself felt scenic from the start. Along the way, saffron fields added colour to the landscape while apple orchards stretched across parts of the valley. The scenery gradually changed as mountains, rivers, and forests began to dominate the view.

Aru Valley, Betaab Valley, and Chandanwari each revealed a different side of Pahalgam's beauty. Wide green meadows opened beneath towering mountains, clear streams flowed through the landscape, and pine-covered slopes framed every viewpoint.

Unlike the dramatic heights of Gulmarg, Pahalgam encouraged Parmita to slow down. There was a peaceful quality to the valley that made it easy to spend time simply appreciating the surroundings. Whether walking through the open landscapes or pausing beside the flowing Lidder River, the destination felt wonderfully relaxed.

Dal Lake Was the Perfect Finale

Golden reflections, colorful Shikaras, and the stunning mountains made this Kashmir view unforgettable

Every Kashmir itinerary eventually leads back to Srinagar, and for Parmita, the final day delivered some of the journey's most memorable moments.

The day began with visits to Srinagar's famous Mughal Gardens and the bustling lanes of Lal Chowk, where local life unfolded at its own pace. The city offered a different energy from the valleys, blending history, culture, and everyday Kashmiri life.

But it was the evening that truly stood out.

As the Shikara gently drifted across Dal Lake, Srinagar revealed its most iconic side. Traditional houseboats floated peacefully on the water, colourful boats moved between floating vendors, and the surrounding mountains reflected softly on the lake's surface. The pace felt slower here, as though the city was inviting visitors to simply sit back and enjoy the view.

The experience became even more special with an overnight stay aboard a traditional houseboat. As daylight faded and lights shimmered across the water, Dal Lake offered a fitting conclusion to six memorable days in Kashmir.

Why Parmita Recommends Thrillophilia for Kashmir

Looking back, what stood out most wasn't a single destination or attraction.

It was how effortlessly the entire journey came together.

From comfortable stays and organised transfers to well-planned sightseeing experiences, every part of the itinerary allowed Parmita to focus on enjoying Kashmir rather than worrying about logistics. Travelling as part of a group added another dimension to the experience, creating friendships and shared memories that enhanced every destination along the way.

The journey was planned by Harsh and supported by Guest Experience Officer Angelina Smith, whose assistance before and during the trip ensured everything remained smooth and stress-free.

As Parmita shared:

"We enjoyed every bit of it. We went on a group tour; the group was also great, making the experience even more memorable. Ms Angelina from POC guided us pre- and during the journey very well."

By the time the trip came to an end, Parmita had experienced Kashmir through glacier viewpoints, mountain valleys, scenic cable car rides, riverside landscapes, and peaceful evenings on Dal Lake.

But like many great group journeys, the memories were shaped just as much by the people she travelled with as the places she visited.
