Ladakh had been on Swati Sen's travel wishlist for years.

What followed was eight days of changing scenery, long mountain drives, and experiences that constantly challenged what they thought Ladakh would look like.

The Journey Was Just as Beautiful as the Destinations

One of the first surprises of the trip was how much time everyone spent looking out of the vehicle window.

In most holidays, the drive is simply a way to get from one attraction to another. In Ladakh, the drive becomes part of the attraction. The group watched the Indus and Zanskar rivers meet at Sangam, passed through Magnetic Hill, and crossed roads that seemed to disappear into endless mountain ranges. Every few kilometres brought a completely different landscape.

Then came Khardung La.

Unlike the barren terrain seen across much of Ladakh, Turtuk felt softer and greener. The village offered a glimpse into a different culture and a slower way of life. Walking through its narrow lanes and interacting with locals added a completely different dimension to the journey.

Every destination seemed determined to prove that Ladakh was far more diverse than people imagine.

And just when the family thought they had seen everything, Pangong Lake arrived.

The lake changed colours throughout the day. The surrounding mountains reflected on the water. Even after seeing countless pictures online, standing beside Pangong felt completely different.

It quickly became one of the most talked-about experiences of the trip.
