Travelling solo changes the way you experience a destination.
There is no fixed schedule beyond the one you've chosen. No conversations competing with the landscape outside the window. You notice more. You pause more often. And in a place like Ladakh, that can be a wonderful thing.
For Varun Verma, this six-day journey was also his first experience travelling with Thrillophilia. What began as a standard Ladakh itinerary quickly turned into something much more memorable. The towering mountains, high-altitude passes, monasteries, rivers, and lakes certainly played their part, but what stayed with him most was how effortlessly the entire experience came together.
From the moment he arrived in Leh, every major detail had already been taken care of. Transfers were smooth, accommodations were comfortable, and support remained available throughout the trip. That allowed him to focus on what he had travelled for in the first place: experiencing Ladakh.
The Kind of Place That Makes You Keep Looking Out the Window

Ladakh is one of those destinations where the road is never just a way to get somewhere.
For Varun, some of the most memorable moments arrived between the famous attractions. The landscapes changed constantly, often within the span of a single drive. One moment, the road followed the Indus River through rugged mountain terrain. A little later, it opened into vast valleys where the horizon seemed endless. Prayer flags fluttered across high passes, monasteries appeared on distant hilltops, and small villages emerged unexpectedly between barren mountains.
Sham Valley offered the perfect introduction to this side of Ladakh. The confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers, the mystery of Magnetic Hill, and the stories preserved at the Hall of Fame revealed a destination shaped by both nature and history.
The journey became even more dramatic as he travelled towards Nubra Valley through Khardung La. Snow-covered peaks surrounded the road before the landscape transformed completely into the cold desert of Hunder, where rolling dunes stood against a backdrop of towering mountains.
Further ahead, Pangong Lake delivered one of the most striking sights of the trip. The lake seemed to shift colours with the changing light, moving between shades of blue while the mountains reflected quietly on its surface.
By the time Varun crossed Chang La Pass on the return journey to Leh, one thing had become clear: Ladakh's famous destinations are spectacular, but the roads connecting them are equally unforgettable.
Why Varun Recommends Thrillophilia for Ladakh
Travelling through Ladakh means spending hours on some of the most spectacular roads in India. Over time, the people accompanying that journey become part of the experience itself.
For Varun, that person was Dorje.
Throughout the trip, he did far more than drive between destinations. He shared stories about the region, pointed out places that many travellers would miss otherwise, and brought context to the landscapes unfolding outside the window. Whether it was finding a good place to eat, suggesting the perfect photo stop, or navigating challenging stretches of mountain roads, his experience was evident throughout the journey.
Varun particularly appreciated the small details. Dorje often checked restaurant availability before they arrived, happily stopped whenever a viewpoint demanded a photograph, and handled the traffic around Chang La Pass with remarkable ease.
As Varun shared:
"The driver we had, Mr Dorje, was outstanding. He was very helpful, always telling stories about the places we visited, and even took the pain of checking with restaurants for food availability before we had to get out of the car. Dorje never had any issue with making multiple stops for clicking pictures, and he is such an experienced driver, as seen in the way he handled the traffic situation at Chang La Pass."
That same attention to detail extended to the rest of the journey. The hotels were comfortable, the food was enjoyable, and support remained available throughout the trip whenever required. Planned by Ayan Ali and delivered through an experienced local team, the experience allowed Varun to focus on Ladakh itself rather than the logistics behind it.
Reflecting on his first trip with Thrillophilia, he summed it up simply:
"This was my first-ever experience with Thrillophilia, and oh boy, I loved it. I definitely recommend Thrillophilia for Ladakh trips, and I look forward to booking other trips with them."
For a destination as vast and dramatic as Ladakh, that peace of mind allowed every mountain pass, valley, and lakeside road to be enjoyed exactly as it should be.
