Not every trip needs a big reason. For Chitturi Yashwanth and Nimmagadda Susmitha, it began with a simple urge to explore somewhere different. They wanted a destination that felt fresh and unpredictable.

When they finally made the call to Thrillophilia, Mohd was their initial POC who took them through what a Meghalaya tour which intentionally opts for adventurous elements looks like; they found exactly what they needed. The plan that then developed over time, with relentless contributions of the team, was well-structured, yet flexible enough to allow spontaneous experiences.

That balance was what gave them confidence right from the start.

A Smooth Start and First Impressions

Their journey began in Guwahati, followed by a comfortable pre-arranged vehicle for the transfer to Kaziranga. Everything was well organised, from the pickup to the hotel check-in, which immediately put them at ease.

The next morning brought one of their first big highlights.

The jeep safari in Kaziranga National Park.

As they drove through the vast grasslands, there was a sense of excitement in the air. Spotting wildlife in its natural habitat, especially the iconic one-horned rhino, made the experience unforgettable. It was not just about seeing animals but about being in an environment that felt completely untouched and alive.

That morning added a sense of adventure right at the start of their trip and set the tone for everything that followed.

The Journey Gets Better with the Right People

As they travelled toward Shillong, the scenery began to change into green, lush hills and misty landscapes.

But what truly enhanced their journey was their driver. As Yashwanth said in his Meghalaya review on Thrillophilia's platform, "The local commute was well organised, the driver had good knowledge about the place and was polite. Accomodation places were very well maintained. With good connectivity and food. We had visited many hidden waterfalls thanks to our driver who made it point to inform and take us to beautiful hidden gems of meghalaya and local food delicacies.

A driver often determines a traveller's entire trip experience because most trips rely heavily on transfers. For Yashwanth, his driver was polite, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. He didn't just ensure smooth navigation throughout the trip but heightened their experience by taking them to unique places they wouldn't have otherwise known.

This is how he realised why the team insisted so much on verifying the driver's expertise, because this is what Thrillophilia provides. A homely feeling even in a place he'd never been before.

Cherrapunji: Where Nature Takes Over

Reaching Cherrapunji felt like stepping into a landscape shaped by rain and time.

Waterfalls dominated the region. The Seven Sisters Waterfall stretched across cliffs, while Nohkalikai Falls stood tall and powerful. Exploring caves like Mawsmai and Arwah added an adventurous edge to the experience.

But beyond these well-known attractions, the real highlights were the hidden waterfalls. These quiet, lesser-known spots offered moments of calm and connection with nature. Without crowds or noise, they could simply sit and enjoy the surroundings, making these experiences feel more personal.

The Trek That Was Worth Every Step

The trek to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge was the most challenging part of their trip, as Yashwanth recounted in his Meghalaya review on Thrillophilia's platform.

"The double decker trecking was very good, it might be challenging for few ppl but try to take a extra mile to go to Blue Lagoon which is worth the treak and carry an extra pair of swimming costumes to take a dip at the extraordinary spots."

As the team had already briefed them before the trip, they started the trek knowing its challenges, and they went ahead with it. With experience-enhancing tips from the team, he was ready for a dip at the bridge's bottom, and a little sweat didn't get in his way of achieving that.

Dawki and the Beauty of Simplicity

Their journey continued to Dawki via Mawlynnong.

The Umngot River was one of the most memorable sights of the trip. Its crystal-clear water created an illusion of boats floating in the air. It was calm, scenic, and almost surreal.

Mawlynnong, known as the cleanest village, offered a completely different experience. It was simple, well-maintained, and gave them a glimpse into a sustainable way of living.

Unexpected Highlights Along the Way

As they made their way back toward Shillong, the journey continued to offer experiences that felt distinct from the earlier days.

Krang Shuri Waterfalls stood out with its vivid blue pool, a contrast to the misty falls they had seen before. The setting felt more interactive than observational.

At Laitlum Canyon, the scenery shifted dramatically. Wide valleys and hills stretched endlessly into the distance, offering one of the most beautiful views of the trip. With fewer crowds and uninterrupted silence, it became a place to pause and truly take in the scale of Meghalaya’s landscape.

Their trip was brought to an end with a visit to the Kamakhya Temple before the safe journey back home was verified by the team via call.

Final Thoughts

For Yashwanth and Susmitha, this trip was not just about visiting Meghalaya. It was about experiencing a destination.

As Yashwanth's Meghalaya review says, "The trip was well planned by the team."

From the local commute being smooth to the comfortable stays, Thrillophilia ensured that the support which held together the trip's flow was consistent throughout the trip with a strong on-ground team who aided the couple on every aspect.

What Yashwanth finally remembered from the trip were the off-beat experiences the team intentionally stitched into their itinerary and a driver who never made them feel the long distances.

And that made all the difference.
