Something is exciting about your first international trip. Everything feels new, from the moment you land in a different country to the first time you spot a skyline you have only seen in photographs. For Rahul Singh Parmar, that first experience happened in Singapore, a city that managed to pack wildlife, theme parks, futuristic gardens, panoramic viewpoints and island adventures into just five days.

The itinerary kept the excitement going. One evening meant watching animals in the darkness at the Night Safari. Another was spent riding attractions and meeting characters at Universal Studios. In between came cable cars, aquariums, the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands and the glowing Supertrees of Gardens by the Bay.

At the Singapore Night Safari

Rahul's first proper Singapore experience happened after dark, and it was far from an ordinary evening out. The Singapore Night Safari introduced him to a side of the city that most first-time visitors probably do not expect to encounter so quickly: a world of wildlife unfolding under the night sky.

The safari is built around nocturnal animals, so the darkness becomes part of the attraction. A tram ride took Rahul through different wildlife habitats, where animals could be spotted moving around in their nighttime routines. Tigers, elephants and other wildlife appeared along the route, making the experience very different from visiting a conventional zoo during the day.

There were also live performances, including the Fire Dance and Animal Show, adding another layer of entertainment to the evening. After travelling all the way to Singapore, starting the holiday with a nighttime wildlife adventure was a memorable way to get into holiday mode.

At Sentosa,

The next day took Rahul to Sentosa Island, where even getting there became part of the experience. The Singapore Cable Car carried him above the city towards the island, offering wide views of the coastline and surrounding landscape along the way.

Once on Sentosa, the day became a mix of entertainment and exploration. At Madame Tussauds Singapore, Rahul could get up close to incredibly lifelike wax figures of famous personalities and capture photographs along the way. The interactive attractions made it much more than simply walking through a museum.

Then came the SEA Aquarium, where the pace slowed down for a while. Walking through the underwater galleries and watching marine life move through the enormous tanks offered a completely different experience from the day's other attractions.

The evening ended with Wings of Time, a spectacular outdoor show combining lights, music, water and storytelling. After a full day on Sentosa, watching the show unfold against the night sky was a fitting end to the adventure.

At the Merlion Park, Marina Bay and the Supertrees

By the third day, Rahul had already experienced Singapore's wildlife and island attractions. Now it was time to discover the city itself.

The city tour brought him through some of Singapore's most recognisable landmarks, including Little India, Merlion Park, Thian Hock Keng Temple and the Helix Bridge. Each stop offered a different glimpse into the city. Little India brought colour and cultural character, while Marina Bay showcased the sleek architecture Singapore is known for.

Of course, no Singapore visit feels complete without seeing the Merlion. Standing beside the city's famous half-lion, half-fish symbol was one of those quintessential travel moments, while the surrounding Marina Bay skyline provided an impressive backdrop for photographs.

Then Rahul headed upwards to the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark. From the observation deck, the city looked completely different. The busy streets became tiny lines below, while the waterfront, skyscrapers and surrounding neighbourhoods stretched across the horizon.

And then came Gardens by the Bay, one of the most futuristic-looking places on the itinerary. Rahul explored the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, moving from colourful floral displays to lush greenery and the dramatic indoor waterfall.

Outside, the Supertree Grove looked even more spectacular as evening arrived. The towering structures began to glow against the Singapore skyline, creating the kind of scene that almost looks digitally enhanced even when you are standing right in front of it.

Universal Studios: Saving the Biggest Thrills for Last

If there was one day built purely for fun, it was the fourth day at Universal Studios Singapore.

Rahul had an entire eight hours to explore the theme park, moving between its movie-inspired zones, rides and attractions. The park brought together familiar characters, elaborate sets and high-energy rides, creating the sort of day where it was perfectly acceptable to forget about sightseeing altogether.

The thrills came thick and fast with rides like Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs. CYLON, Revenge of the Mummy, and Transformers: The Ride 3D, each bringing a completely different kind of adrenaline. Between the rides, there were plenty of photo opportunities with favourite characters and themed streets to explore.

After wildlife, cultural landmarks, observation decks and gardens, Universal Studios was the perfect burst of pure holiday fun before heading home.

A First International Trip Made Easier with Thrillophilia
