Singapore is one of those destinations that works well for a family with a young child, partly because the city is so well organized that logistics are rarely stressful, and partly because it has an unusually good spread of things that genuinely excite kids and adults at the same time. Shubham Shankhdhar and Kanak Sharma figured this out and spent six days there in October 2024 with their daughter Karnika, who was four at the time. Starting With the Ice Cream Museum

They checked into V Hotel Lavender in Singapore on the first evening and the very same night were out at the Museum of Ice Cream. For a family with a young child, the Museum of Ice Cream as a first evening activity is a genuinely smart choice. It is colourful, interactive, and entirely designed to make people of all ages immediately happy about being there. A good way to arrive somewhere new.

Universal Studios on Day Two

Day two was a full day at Universal Studios Singapore, eight hours with one of the most well-designed theme parks in Asia. For Karnika at four years old, Universal Studios has rides and shows and characters at exactly the right level of excitement, and for Shubham and Kanak it has enough going on to keep adults engaged throughout a long day. The transfers were handled by private Toyota Commuter both ways, which for a family with a young child at a theme park is a meaningful convenience.

Sentosa Island Day

Day three was the most packed of the trip, covering four separate attractions across Sentosa Island. The Sentosa Cable Car from Mount Faber gave them an aerial view of the harbour and the island before they descended to Imbiah Station. Madame Tussauds with its Marvel Universe 4D experience and VR Racing was the interactive middle of the day. The S.E.A. Aquarium, one of the largest in the world, gave Karnika the underwater experience that tends to be a highlight for young children: the fish and the rays and the sharks moving slowly past the glass. And then Wings of Time in the evening, a twenty-minute outdoor show of water, light, and music on the beach at Sentosa that is the right end to a full day on the island.

City Tour, Marina Bay Sands, and Gardens by the Bay

Day four was the city in its most iconic form. The half-day sightseeing tour in the morning covered the Singapore Flyer, Merlion Park, Chinatown, Helix Bridge, the Esplanade, and the Central Business District. Then the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark Observation Deck for the view over the whole city from above, which on a clear October day gives you one of the best urban panoramas in Southeast Asia. Then Gardens by the Bay in the afternoon, the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest both included, the Supertrees visible outside and the climate-controlled domes inside holding plant collections from around the world. For Karnika, the Cloud Forest's indoor waterfall cascading down a mountain of vegetation inside a glass dome is the kind of thing that genuinely stops a six-year-old mid-sentence.

Mandai Wildlife Reserve and Other Parks

Day five was the Mandai Wildlife Reserve Park Hopper, which covered Bird Paradise, Singapore Zoo, River Wonders, and the Night Safari across one very long day. This is eight parks worth of wildlife in one ticket, and for a family with a young child it is the day that tends to generate the most conversation afterwards. Bird Paradise has free-flying birds in enormous aviaries. Singapore Zoo is open-concept with no visible barriers between visitors and many of the animals. River Wonders has giant pandas and a river safari boat ride. And the Night Safari, the world's first nocturnal wildlife park, closes the day with a tram ride through enclosures lit specifically for viewing animals at night. Getting back to V Hotel Lavender after that day meant everyone was very ready to sleep.

Day six was the Toyota Commuter back to Changi Airport and the flight home.

What Thrillophilia Put Together For This

The itinerary across six days was well matched to a family with a young child. The Museum of Ice Cream on the first evening settled everyone in gently. Universal Studios on day two while the energy was highest. The Sentosa day and the city tour day in the middle. Mandai saved for day five when they were familiar enough with Singapore to appreciate a full day in one location. Private Toyota Commuter transfers throughout meant the family was always moving together on their own schedule without waiting for shared transport or managing a rental car in an unfamiliar city.

Six days, five attractions that all worked well for a family with a young child, and a trip that by every account left everyone very satisfied. Karnika Shankhdhar, at four years old, had Universal Studios, giant pandas, a cable car, an indoor waterfall, and animals at night all in one week. Not a bad introduction to international travel.
