Some trips stay with you because of the places you visit. Others stay with you because of how they make you feel.

When Riya Pal, her sister Reema, and their mother travelled to Kashmir, they were looking forward to the landscapes they had seen in photographs for years. The snow-capped mountains, the green valleys, and the famous sights of Srinagar and Gulmarg had all played a part in convincing them to plan the trip.

What they did not expect was how easy and comfortable the entire journey would feel.

From the moment they arrived in Srinagar, there was no pressure to figure out routes, coordinate transport, or constantly check what came next. Everything had already been arranged. Instead of focusing on logistics, the family could focus on what they had travelled all the way to Kashmir for—spending quality time together and enjoying every moment of the experience.

And that simple difference ended up shaping the entire trip.

The Kind of Kashmir They Had Hoped to Find

A relaxing shikara ride became a cherished highlight of their Kashmir journey

Kashmir has a way of slowing people down.

The family noticed it almost immediately. The pace felt different from city life. The roads wound through mountains instead of traffic. Conversations lasted longer. Even the scenery seemed to encourage travellers to pause for a while rather than rush to the next destination.

Their first days were spent exploring the beauty that makes Kashmir one of India's most loved destinations.

The gardens of Srinagar offered a peaceful introduction to the region. Walking through beautifully maintained landscapes with mountain views in the distance felt like the perfect beginning to the holiday.

Then came Doodhpatri.

Known as the "Valley of Milk," the destination felt almost untouched. Wide green meadows stretched in every direction while streams cut through the landscape like silver ribbons. It was the kind of place where photographs never quite capture the scale of what stands in front of you.

The family found themselves spending longer there than expected.

Riya shared with the team, “We had an amazing experience! The staff was very helpful, and the highlight of our trip was our driver, Mr Mohd Saif. He was a gem of a person, very knowledgeable, polite, and professional. He always made sure our comfort was a priority and guided us well throughout the entire journey. We truly appreciated his support and hospitality. We would love to plan our next destination with Thrillophilia in the coming days.”

Sometimes the most memorable travel moments come when nothing special is happening at all.

A Day That Felt Straight Out of a Postcard

A memorable shikara experience added to Riya and Reema's Kashmir adventure

If Doodhpatri felt peaceful, Gulmarg felt dramatic.

The drive itself was part of the experience. As the road climbed higher, the scenery changed with every turn. The mountains seemed larger, the air felt cooler, and anticipation built as the family approached one of Kashmir's most famous destinations.

For many travellers, Gulmarg is a bucket-list destination, and it was easy to see why.

The views stretched endlessly across the landscape, creating the kind of scenes people usually associate with calendars and travel magazines. Standing there and seeing it with their own eyes felt very different from seeing it on a screen.

The gondola ride became one of the highlights of the day.

As they moved higher into the mountains, the panoramic views opened up around them. Snow-covered peaks stood in the distance while the valleys below appeared smaller with every passing minute. For Riya, Reema, and their mother, Gulmarg became one of those memories they knew they would be talking about long after returning home.

Why They Would Choose Thrillophilia Again

Looking back, Riya describes the trip as an amazing experience from start to finish.

The planning support from Harsh, along with the assistance provided by Guest Experience Officer Ayush Jain and the local team on the ground, ensured that everything ran smoothly throughout the journey.

Most travellers remember the destinations they visit. Riya and her family certainly do.

They remember the meadows of Doodhpatri, the mountain views of Gulmarg, and the peaceful atmosphere of Srinagar. But they also remember how comfortable the entire experience felt and the people who helped make it possible.

Sometimes the best compliment a traveller can give is wanting to return for another journey. For Riya, Reema, and their mother, Kashmir turned out to be exactly that kind of experience with Thrillophilia.
