For Rajvansh Poddar, Ladakh tour was more of  ticked off the heart than ticked off a list kind of trip. As he said "Ladakh has been on my bucket list since forever," this completely resonates with anyone who has looked at pictures of the region's stark, otherworldly landscapes and quietly promised themselves a visit someday.

For the Poddar family, someday finally arrived, and it arrived in style. Travelling to any destination family that has always been in heart is always very special as Rajvansh took his Ladakh tour along with his brother Aditya Poddar and his mother Megha Poddar.

It was a six day and five night journey across the cold deserts, high passes, and turquoise lakes of Ladakh, exploring everything with a Ladakh tour package booked through Thrillophilia which once was just a dream.

What came back with him after these 6 days trip was not just a set of photographs, but a story he could not stop talking about.

Witness the beauty of Ladakh through Rajvansh Poddar's unforgettable family journey-from dramatic mountain landscapes to peaceful monasteries.

Landing in the Land of High Passes

Every mountain in Ladakh tells a story of adventure and serenity

The trip began in Leh, the beating heart to step in the land which is every travellers dream to once visit there. Rajvansh begins sharing his experience of the journey with a phrase that captures the spirit of the entire trip as he calls Ladakh, "the land of high passes,".

Within the first few hours of arrival, that description already felt earned as he stated "From the moment we landed in Ladakh, everything was seamless," recalling the memory of one of the most spectacular experiences.

"The airport transfer, the cozy stays, and the food was really great." It really matters if someone is travelling with their parents because one desires to give the best experience to the family.

Thrillophilia ensured that Rajvansh and his family had a hassle free Ladakh tour experience. It sets the tone for everything that follows, and the journey became more pleasing for them as it was stress free along with a memorable one.

The first two days in Leh were spent getting used to the altitude, which is a must in a region that is over 11,000 feet, especially when travelling with family.

They explored the Leh Palace, spent quiet and serene moments at Shanti Stupa, and explored Tibetan crafts at Leh Market in the evenings. It gave the family a feel of the mountains before they went further out.

And then they went day tripping in Sham Valley. They walked where the Zanskar and Indus rivers joined, saw the mirage at Magnetic Hill, relaxed at the serene Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and paid their respects at the Hall of Fame War Memorial, a tribute to the soldiers defending these distant borders.

Crossing Khardung La: The Journey's Defining Moment

The majestic Shanti Stupa reflected the spiritual charm of Ladakh's landscapes

If there was one moment that Rajvansh clung on to, above all, it was the crossing of Khardung La. “The highlight of the trip for me was Khardung La Pass at 18,000 feet,” he says, and it’s easy to see why.

There are few experiences that can compare with standing at one of the highest motorable passes in the world, surrounded by sky and snow capped peaks in every direction.

This part of any Ladakh tour itinerary is always the most talked-about and for good reason. The drive from Leh to Nubra Valley, over Khardung La, is as much a part of the destination as anywhere it takes you.

A stop for steaming Maggi noodles at a roadside cafe near the top of the pass, a visit to the Diskit Monastery with its towering statue of the Maitreya Buddha, and the golden sand dunes of Hunder rounded out a day that blended adventure with quiet reflection.

Nubra Valley and the Colours of Pangong Tso

Leh unfolded below as Rajvansh enjoyed one of Ladakh's most scenic viewpoints

Leaving Nubra behind, with its camel rides and ATV runs through the sand, the drive continued on to Pangong Tso, the most recognizable spot on any Ladakh tour. Rajvansh sums up this leg of the trip in one line: "Seeing the unbelievable blue Pangong Lake and riding through the Nubra Valley."

Anyone who has stood on the shore of that lake knows one sentence just doesn’t cut it. The water changes color with the sun. In the morning it looks a deep blue and by afternoon it’s nearly turquoise. The mountains about it appear to change with the lake.

The family camped by the lake for the night, and set off for Leh the next morning. On the way back, they crossed Chang La. One of the higher passes on the route. By this point in the trip altitude was no longer something anyone gave a second thought to.

On the road back, they stopped at Thiksey Monastery and then at the Druk Padma Karpo School, a name that might not ring a bell until you hear it was the school featured in the film 3 Idiots.

What Makes This Ladakh Tour Itinerary Work

Planning matters more than most people expect on a trip like this. Private transfers between every stop, a mix of stays from hotels in Leh to a camp in Nubra and a cottage at Pangong, and two full days set aside just to adjust to the altitude, all of it added up to a route that a family could actually manage together, even with three adults at different fitness levels.

That is usually the real difference between one Ladakh tour itinerary and another. The places on the map tend to look similar on paper: Nubra, Pangong, Khardung La, Chang La.

What separates a good trip from a rough one is what happens in between, oxygen backup once you are further out, food that is actually available in a remote camp, a driver who has done that Khardung La stretch enough times not to think twice about it. None of that shows up in a brochure. You only notice it when it is missing.

How Thrillophilia Made the Trip Worth Recommending

By the time the flight left Leh, the trip had already done its job. "So if you are looking for a great trip that balances adventure with comfort, I'd highly recommend Thrillophilia," Rajvansh says, then adds the line that says it best: "It truly was a trip of a lifetime."

For anyone still on the fence about their own Ladakh tour, this trip is a fair example of how it can go. A region this remote and physically demanding can still work for a family, without losing what makes people want to go there in the first place.

From the altitude at Khardung La to the changing blues of Pangong Tso, it turned out to be everything Ladakh is supposed to be, and then some, because of the kind of Ladakh tour packages that actually think through the details before you even ask.
