It took just a few minutes after landing in Leh for everything else to fade into the background. The notifications, the deadlines, and the noise of everyday life – none of it seemed to matter anymore. All that remained were endless mountains, crisp air, and a road waiting to be explored.
The first thing Shreshtha remembers isn't landing in Leh or seeing the mountains. It was the silence and peace she felt in her 7-day trip to Ladakh with Thrillophilia.

Discovering Leh Beyond the Postcards
Their journey began with a comfortable airport pickup arranged by Thrillophilia, making the arrival completely hassle-free after landing in Leh. Instead of worrying about finding transport or navigating an unfamiliar place, they could simply settle into their hotel, rest, and slowly acclimatise to the altitude before stepping out to explore the city.
The first couple of days introduced them to Ladakh at an easy pace. They wandered through Leh Market, browsed local handicraft shops, admired the peaceful white dome of Shanti Stupa overlooking the town, and soaked in panoramic views from the historic Leh Palace.

Crossing Khardung La to Nubra Valley
Leaving Leh behind, Shreshtha and Deepak crossed the mighty Khardung La Pass, one of the highest all-season motorable roads in the world. The drive itself felt like an experience, with snow-covered mountains slowly giving way to the unique landscape of Nubra Valley. They paused at Diskit Monastery to admire the towering Maitreya Buddha before heading towards Hunder, where golden sand dunes stretched across the valley with dramatic mountains rising behind them. Watching double-humped Bactrian camels walk across what looked like a desert in the middle of the Himalayas felt almost surreal.
The real joy, however, wasn't just the places they visited but the pace at which they experienced them. To put it in Shreshtha's words, "What we loved most was that nothing ever felt rushed. We had enough time at every stop to walk around, take pictures, and simply enjoy being there instead of constantly watching the clock."
That slower rhythm continued through their stay beside the Shyok River, where quiet evenings, crisp mountain air, and star-filled skies made it easy to disconnect from everyday life. The next day took them further north to Turtuk, one of India's northernmost villages, where Balti culture, apricot orchards, old stone houses, and peaceful mountain trails offered a completely different side of Ladakh. Walking through its narrow lanes and interacting with locals made the experience feel much more personal than simply ticking another destination off the itinerary.
It wasn't just the landscapes that stayed with them. After returning home, Shreshtha and Deepak even shared detailed reviews of their experience on Google Maps and Reddit, something they don't usually do unless a trip genuinely exceeds expectations.

Pangong Lake and the Journey Back
After two unforgettable days in Nubra, the road led them towards Pangong Lake. The drive itself was filled with mountain scenery, winding roads, and a lot of quiet villages before the famous blue lake finally appeared.
No matter how many photographs they had seen before the trip, nothing prepared them for witnessing Pangong in person. The lake constantly shifted shades between turquoise, deep blue, and emerald as clouds drifted overhead, making every glance feel slightly different from the last.
Spending the evening beside the lake, surrounded by towering peaks and absolute silence, became one of those moments that didn't need words.
The following day, they crossed Chang La Pass before visiting the famous Rancho School and the beautiful Thiksey Monastery on their way back to Leh. Even though it marked the final stretch of the trip, the drive never felt like the end. Every turn still revealed another mountain range, another monastery perched on a hill, or another landscape worth stopping for.
By the time they returned to Leh for their final night, it was difficult to believe how much they had experienced within a single week.

Ladakh had offered exactly what they had hoped for. It had adventure, breathtaking scenery, and enough quiet moments to truly experience the place instead of simply moving through it.
