There is nothing quite like gathering the entire family for a vacation, especially when the children are busy carving out their own paths in life. For Krishna Kadagattur (58) and his wife Sudha Rao (53), the dawn of a new year presented the perfect opportunity to pause, reconnect, and travel together after almost three long years.
Mauritius, with its cool volcanic peaks, powder-white sands, and bright blue waters, was their first choice. And, to turn this family dream into a reality, they reached out to travel expert Vishal Paswam. Vishal put together a wonderful 6-day plan that balanced island sightseeing with plenty of open time for the family to relax together.
From the moment they landed at the airport on January 2, 2026, everything ran like clockwork. A warm welcome and a smooth ride brought them straight to the beautiful Anelia Resort & Spa. After checking into their rooms, the family spent a relaxed afternoon unpacking, walking along the soft sand, and watching the sun set over the Indian Ocean, excited for the days ahead.
The Charm of Emerald Lagoons

The second day was all about sun, sand, and water adventures. After a big breakfast at the resort, the family headed to the eastern coast and hopped onto a fast speedboat. Their destination was the famous Île aux Cerfs, a gorgeous island known for its beautiful sandbars and leaning palm trees. For a family enjoying a long-overdue reunion, it felt like absolute paradise.
The family dove straight into the beach fun. Krishna and Sudha enjoyed a peaceful swim in the warm, crystal-clear shallows, while the kids, Anagha and Adithya, went for the thrill of parasailing. Flying high above the ocean, they got an incredible bird's-eye view of the colorful coral reefs below. The whole family also laughed their way through a bumpy, high-speed banana boat ride, creating wonderful memories together before heading back to the resort for a cozy dinner.
On the third morning, they shifted gears from beaches to history with a full-day tour of North Mauritius. Traveling in a comfortable coach, the family arrived in the historic capital city of Port Louis. They strolled through the Place D’Armes, admiring the old French colonial buildings and the tall palm trees lining the streets.
Next, they drove up to La Citadelle, an old 19th-century military fortress built from dark volcanic stone. From its high stone walls, the family enjoyed a stunning, 360-degree view of the busy harbor, the city, and the dramatic mountain ranges surrounding the capital. They also took a quick look at the historic Champ de Mars Racecourse- the oldest horse-racing club in the Southern Hemisphere- before wrapping up their day with a scenic stroll along the lively Caudan Waterfront.
Exploring Volcanic Craters and Seven Coloured Earths

The fourth day was dedicated to the natural wonders of South Mauritius, a region shaped by ancient volcanoes. The tour began with a drive up to Trou aux Cerfs, a massive, dormant volcanic crater. Walking along the green rim, the family looked down into the deep basin, which is now completely covered by a thick, lush forest.
The final stop of the southern tour brought them face-to-face with something truly unique: the Chamarel Seven Coloured Earths. Tucked inside a green forest, these rolling sand dunes have distinct layers of red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple, and yellow sand. The striking colors, formed by old volcanic lava, glowed beautifully under the afternoon sun. After three busy days of sightseeing and ocean adventures, the fifth day was left completely open for leisure. This gave the family a chance to slow down and simply enjoy the facilities of the resort. On their final day, a comfortable ride picked them up from the lobby and took them back to the international airport for their flight home to India. Returning with bags full of souvenirs and cameras packed with smiles, Krishna shared his happiness on Tripadvisor & on Reviews.io:
"We had a wonderful vacation, thank you for all the arrangements. Extremely happy with your service. Right from the airport to all the tours, the drivers, schedule, information sharing, were all done perfectly! Thank you, Thrillophilia team, for creating a lovely experience!"
