Some mountain trips stay with you even after you’ve come back because of the way they made you feel, and some feel like they were destined to happen. Nikhil's and Pankaja's journey to Gangtok and Darjeeling turned out to be both of these.
Over five days, they traversed the twisty mountain roads, quiet monasteries, high-altitude lakes sitting among the clouds, and small villages that slowed down life quite naturally.
From the hotels, transfers, accommodations and itinerary of sightseeing to the people of the tour who made their journey seamless, everything about the tour flowed so well that they worried less about the arrangements and focused solely on the experience of being there.
In Nikhil's Darjeeling review on Tripadvisor, he highlighted how travelling with a travel partner felt.
"Our experience with Thrillophilia team was fabulous. Each and everything was planned as per iternary. Stay at Divine Grace and Divine Himalayan Resort was good and cab drivers service was excellent. The team went above and beyond to make our trip seamless. Our guide in all location was incredibly knowledgeable and made the experience unforgettable. Thanks to Thrillophilia and Team"

Gangtok Welcomed Them with Mountain Roads and Calm Evenings
The drive to the hotel in the private vehicle itself seemed like part of the vacation. The couple drove along the mountains, the road coiling through them, the Teesta flashing in brilliant turquoise intermittently by our side. It is easy to discuss destinations, but when they were in places like Sikkim, even the commute between points felt like part of the attraction.
They then checked into Divine Grace Residency, and the rest of the day was left for leisure to recover from the travel fatigue.
Gangtok was a quiet place, and the feeling gradually seeped in. MG Marg, in particular, was lively but not manic after dark. Cafes were packed, street shops were brightly lit, and people ambled along without any particular rush or purpose.
The easy start turned out to be the ideal start for the holiday.
Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir Became the Highlight of Gangtok
The next morning, they drove towards Baba Mandir and Tsomgo Lake, passing through roads with snowy mountains around them, and the landscape around them changed frequently. As they went higher, the surroundings became even prettier.
The Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir visits immediately captured their attention. The quiet water mirrored the surrounding mountains, and a chilling wind constantly brushed through the area. Baba Mandir felt different from the average tourist spot, its quietness evoking emotion due to the story attached to the holy place.
The drive to the Nathula Pass also became one of the memorable parts of the journey, with the roads, the height and the mountain view from it taking them far away from their daily life in the city.
By the time the gang was back in Gangtok that evening, it was already the highest-talked-about part of the holiday.
The Journey to Darjeeling Felt Just as Beautiful
On the third day, they travelled from Gangtok to Darjeeling via Namchi.
Mountain drives in this region never really felt repetitive. One moment, the roads pass through forests and clouds, and the next, they open up to wide valley views. The stop near Namchi added another layer to the journey, giving them time to slow down and take in the scenery before continuing onwards.
Once they reached Darjeeling and checked into Divine Himalayan Resort, the rest of the evening was left free.
Darjeeling carried a completely different mood compared to Gangtok. The town felt older, slower, and more nostalgic in many ways. Small cafés, steep roads, colonial-style buildings, and views of the hills in the distance gave the place its own charm.
Darjeeling Mornings Felt Straight Out of a Postcard
The fourth day began early with the drive to Tiger Hill.
Despite the cold morning temperatures and early wake-up call, the sunrise experience made everything worth it. Watching the first light slowly fall across Mount Kanchenjunga is one of those moments that photographs never fully capture.
For a few minutes, almost everyone around simply stood quietly watching the mountains change colour with the sunrise.
Later, they visited Batasia Loop and Ghoom Monastery as part of the sightseeing tour. The Batasia Loop, with its curved railway track and mountain backdrop, looked exactly like the kind of scene people associate with Darjeeling. Meanwhile, Ghoom Monastery brought a calmer and more peaceful atmosphere to the day.
Compared to the dramatic landscapes of Gangtok, Darjeeling’s beauty felt softer and slower.
A Trip's End and How Thrillophilia Managed it Throughout
By the final day, it was already time to leave the hills behind and head back towards Bagdogra Airport.
Looking back, what stood out most for the travellers was how smoothly everything had been handled throughout the trip.
Their review on Tripadvisor talked about how seamless it felt throughout the trip's duration and how the people usually hidden in the background, like cab drivers, guides, and the planning team, showed their care with an itinerary that felt personal and flowed smoothly.
And the quality remained consistent throughout the trip itself.
Nothing about the journey felt rushed or unnecessarily complicated. The stays were comfortable, the transfers remained smooth despite mountain routes, and every destination brought something different to the experience. With the team's backing and continued support, never did they have to worry about a single trip aspect themselves because the team promised them relaxation, and they did exactly that.
For them, Sikkim and Darjeeling became more than just another hill station holiday. It became five days of mountain air, winding roads, quiet mornings, and moments that stayed long after the trip had ended.
